Thirteen patients and their caregivers from Kiribati, Tuvalu, Vanuatu, and Samoa arrived safely in Suva. The cohort underwent information sessions and briefings from the Uto Bulabula team, in preparation for their lifesaving cardiac surgeries.
The young patients are all set to undergo their preliminary check-ups with Pacific paediatric cardiologist, Dr. Maryanne Kora’ai, ensuring that the children are in optimal health prior to undergoing their operations.
The Uto Bulabula - Healthy Hearts initiative is funded by the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MFAT) and coordinated by the Pasifika Medical Association (PMA) Group, through the New Zealand Medical Treatment Scheme.
