Only one week to go before the Pasifika Medical Association Conference kicks off.
All Pacific medical practitioners will gather together in one place to share ideas and information and discuss and debate key medical issues.
The conference will cover a wide range of topics, including clinical leadership and presents an opportunity for clinical leaders, policy makers and practitioners to share their experiences and share what they have learned about some of the complex health challenges faced by Pacific countries, communities and families.
There will also be a session on kava as a commodity, and cure. This is a hotly debated topic which we are hoping to provide an opportunity for free and frank discussions on the use of kava through the many different lenses of Pacific communities.
There is a session on women leading change focussing on profiling emerging female leaders, identifying what lessons have been learnt in the leadership journey.
There will be ample time for practical matters; afternoon workshops will concentrate on 20 years for PMA progress in Pacific Health, strategies for women leading change and influence, the book launch of PMA History and the awards ceremony.
The PMA conference is considered to be the largest meeting of Pacific health workers and professionals throughout NZ and from the Pacific region.
