PMA host meeting with Pacific MPs
Pasifika Medical Association Board members, Mrs Eseta Finau and Mr Abel Smith hosted five Pacific MP’s Hon Prem Singh (Fiji), Penisimani Fifita (Tonga), Tetangi Matapo (Cook Islands), Hon Johnny Koanapo (Vanuatu) and Hon Culwick Togamana (Solomon Islands) on Tuesday 15 November at the PMA premises in Auckland.
The delegation were joined by Labour MP for Manukau East Jenny Salesa, Laulu Mac Leauanae Pacific Cooperation Foundation CEO and Marni Gilbert from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
The visit was an opportunity for Pasifika Medical Association to talk about their network of Pacific health professionals, and how they work collaboratively with Pacific Island countries to strengthen the Pacific health workforce capacity and capability to meet the health needs of Pacific people.
There was also an opportunity for Pasifika Futures to discuss how the Whānau Ora programme works and how it meet the needs of many Pacific families throughout New Zealand.
The visit was very engaging and uplifting to both parties.
