As the Manager of the Learning and Development team for Pasifika Medical Association (PMA) Group, Sione Vala expresses his thoughts on the significance of discussing Men's Health. To maintain a positive outlook, Sione believes that making small progress each day will eventually lead to significant achievements.

This week is Men’s Health Week – why do you think it’s important to talk about men’s health?

I believe it’s important to talk about men’s health because it’s a topic that men usually neglect and not comfortable in addressing.

Why is health and well-being important to you?

It’s important because, as they say, “health is wealth”. When my health and wellbeing is thriving it will tend to have a positive effect on other aspects of my life.

What do you do to keep yourself healthy?

I try get out there and exercise regularly and watch what I eat.

What’s your go-to meal?

I like a nice chicken or ham sandwich.

Your favourite proverb/mantra/quote/song that keeps you feeling positive?

“If you make one small step forward every day that is 365 steps in a year."

What’s your favourite physical wellness activity?

I like doing high intensity interval exercises to get the heart pumping in a short amount of time and going for outdoor walks to refresh the mind and some Vitamin D for the body.

What’s one wellness tip or piece of advice you can share to encourage others this week?

It's ok not to be ok. Be vulnerable and reach out to someone if you want to talk/walk or just vent because it will do wonders to you your health and wellbeing.
