Dr. Tomasi Foliaki, who works as a Data Analyst for Pasifika Medical Association's (PMA) Primary Care department, weighs in on the importance of #MHW. Dr. Foliaki emphasizes that good health and well-being are essential for experiencing a high quality of life. This week is Men’s Health Week – why do you think it’s important to talk about men’s health? 

Men are less likely to reach out for help whilst also being at much greater risk of suicide. It’s important to have this open dialogue so that we can destigmatise men asking for help. 

Why is health and well-being important to you? 

To experience the best quality of life possible, it's important to prioritise health and well-being 

What do you do to keep yourself healthy? 

Spend time with mates, stay active, make time for hobbies, and set goals both long and short term. 

What’s your go-to meal? 

Nothing beats a mince pie! Otherwise, it may unfortunately be chicken, rice, and broccoli. 

Your favourite proverb/mantra/quote/song that keeps you feeling positive? 

“It's not what happens to you, but how you react to it that matters.” 

What’s your favourite physical wellness activity? 

Definitely weightlifting/powerlifting – It’s super fun and I encourage everyone to give it a go. 

What’s one wellness tip or piece of advice you can share to encourage others this week? 

Find a physical wellness activity you enjoy and staying active will be easy as.
