Updates / News, 28 Apr 22
Sisifa Piukala is part of the Medical Assistance Team (PACMAT) deployed to Tonga and as the Infection, Prevention and Control (IPC) Nurse, she will be responsible for ensuring the team’s health and safety protocols are being practiced and adhered to.

“My responsibility is to ensure that my team is safe so that they’ll be able to carry out their work in Tonga.

I’ll do daily health checks and ensure that they are well; also making sure that they are being tested regularly for Covid.”

She is grateful to be a part of the team and says it means a lot being able to be part of the team serving the people of Tonga.

“It’s an honour to be a part of this team and to be given this opportunity to give back to my country. I grew up and studied in Tonga so I am glad to be giving back to my country; I’ve still got family in Tonga as well so I’m very blessed to be a part of the team.”

This deployment is funded by the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
