“I never thought a day like this would come” PACMAT Tonga 2022
Updates / News, 29 Apr 22
Netane Takau is part of the Medical Assistance Team (PACMAT) deployed to Tonga and is humbled to be in a position to share his expertise as an Acute Mental Health Nurse on this deployment.

“I’ll be focusing and supporting people that are struggling with their mental health in different forms. I’m definitely excited to be able to be there and use my skills that I’m using here and help my own people in Tonga.”

Having moved to New Zealand in 2008, Mr Takau says he owes a lot to his homeland of Tonga and looks forward to serving his people during this time of need.

“It has always been my dream that one day I’ll be able to show my appreciation and give back to my people. I never thought a day like this would come.

The Pasifika Medical Association gave me that chance to make my dream come true. This trip means everything to me.”

This deployment is funded by the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
