Pasifika Medical Association is pleased to see Dr. Alec Ekeroma take on the new role as Editor in Chief for Pacific Health Dialog.
He believes that the Pacific Health Dialog is an essential ingredient in the cultivation and growth of our Pacific research workforce.
“The Pacific Health Dialog was the only major Journal in the Pacific that enabled clinicians and researches to disseminate their work to a wider scientific community. Taking on the role of Editor in Chief is a fantastic challenge in my academic life as my PhD over the past six years has revolved around my passion of building research capacity in the Pacific region.” Says Dr. Ekeroma.
One of the things Dr. Ekeroma is most looking forward to with his new role is the ability to modernize the Journal in an electronic format. “I want the Pacific Health Dialog to be shared on multimedia platforms and have a registered impact factor so researchers clamber to publish their work with us.”
Dr. Ekeroma has an extensive background in the Pacific health community and has committed his services to the development and growth of Pacific health organisations.
He runs a private Obstetrics and Gynaecology practice in Auckland and continues to serve pacific people on various boards, council’s and committees.
“I am passionate about supporting and advocating for the initiatives that grow and support our health workforce and our researchers from secondary schools across to tertiary institutions as they find their feet in the workplace and their place in our communities.” Says Dr. Ekeroma.
We are excited to see what the future holds for Dr. Ekeroma and the Pacific Health Dialog and extend our warm wishes for the journey ahead.
