Congratulations to our new doctor in the public health sector, Dr Jesse Kokaua.
Mr Kokaua successfully defended his Ph.D. thesis on applying Bayesian models to the analysis of the prevalence of mental disorders and mental health service use for Cook Islanders living in New Zealand.
His thesis looked at the prevalence of mental health disorders, what services are available, and whether Cook Islanders living in New Zealand who need those services are accessing them.
Pasifika Futures chief executive Debbie Sorensen says Jesse’s success comes as no surprise.
“We are very proud to have Jesse as a Pasifika Futures team member and we congratulate him on this wonderful moment of success.”
“What great news to finish off the year.”
Mr Kokaua, worked for many years in the public health sector in the area of mental health. He is also a statistician, a Research Fellow at the University of Otago and he recently took up a position as an evaluator for Pasifika Futures.
A big congratulations to Dr Jesse Kokaua!
