"Champions of Pacific health and wellbeing" - PMA Life Awards 2022
Updates / News, 22 Sep 22
The Pasifika Medical Association (PMA) recently awarded a group of Pacific health leaders the PMA Life Award for their contribution to the health needs of Pacific people in the region.

Nine people were acknowledged with the PMA Life Award as part of PMA’s 25-Year Celebration Cocktail hosted by Hon. Aupito Tofae Su’a William Sio.

The evening took place at the New Zealand Parliament and was a celebration of their service to Pacific health in their respective fields, both in New Zealand and the Pacific region.

CEO for the PMA, Mrs Debbie Sorensen, reflects that after two years of a global pandemic, the Cocktail evening is a welcome indicator of returning normality.

“To celebrate this occasion here in Parliament House, is a far cry from where the world was a couple of years ago. It’s good to be back and better that we are honoring these Champions of Pacific health and wellbeing together as a family in a place fitting for this occasion.”

Recipients of the PMA Life Award were also acknowledged by PMA Patron, Lord Tangi, Minister for Pacific Peoples Hon. Aupito Tofae Su’a William Sio and PMA President, Dr Kiki Maoate.
