A knighthood for founding PMA member – Dr Collin Tukuitonga

Pasifika Medical Association Group (PMAG) Board Director, Dr Collin Tukuitonga, has been recognised for his contribution to the Pacific and Public Health by being awarded with the Knights Companion Order of Merit (KNZM) in this year’s Queen’s Birthday Honors List for 2022.

Dr Tukuitonga has been a trailblazer in the field of Pacific health in New Zealand and in the Pacific region. He has served in various roles and across multiple organizations, holding key positions that have influenced and improved Pacific health services.

His impressive résumé includes having been the CEO of the New Zealand Government’s Ministry of Pacific Island Affairs (now the Ministry for Pacific Peoples), the Director-General of the Secretariat of the Pacific Community (SPC) and the Director of Public Health for New Zealand’s Ministry of Health.

PMA congratulates Dr Tukuitonga – a founding member – for this outstanding accolade. He served as the President of PMA from 2002-2003 and was appointed a Life Member in 2016 for his exceptional commitment to Pacific health and wellbeing.
