Etu Pasifika’s Clinical Director, Dr Monica Nua-George says the clinic has been set up to ensure our Pacific families have a positive experience when receiving the vaccine. 

“It’s a warm and friendly environment, we have people at the door to welcome everyone and to help them through the process of registration. All of our vaccinators are fully informed and are able to provide information to people in our Pacific languages. There is tea and coffee and snacks for everyone while they wait for their time, and everyone can chat in the waiting room. It’s not something we should be scared of getting. Come together, come as a household, come as a family, come as a church.”

Dr Nua-George says 250 Pacific individuals have received the vaccine through the past two vaccination drives. But adds, there is a real sense of urgency for the next drive to have a bigger turn out.

“The delta strain is getting closer to New Zealand so, we as a Pacific community have to be prepared by vaccinating as many people as we can. A lot of people are saying, just wait and see what happens. But we can’t do that, because its already costing a lot of lives in Fiji and Australia so, we can’t be complacent, we can’t afford to wait.”

Etu Pasifika’s third vaccination drive will take place on the Sunday 29th August at their vaccination clinic on 173 Montreal Street. Bookings are encouraged and you can contact them on 0800 388 434 but walk-ins are also available.
