Kia orana tatou katoatoa

The family of Dr Joe Williams wishes to thank the whole community for the outpouring of love and support after his death on 4 September 2020. The messages from New Zealand, throughout the Pacific and around the world have been heart-warming and of great comfort to the family.

A public memorial service is being planned for Auckland in October, after current Covid-19 restrictions have been lifted. This will be co-hosted by the Pasifika Medical Association (PMA) and Cook Islands Development Agency New Zealand (CIDANZ). Further details of this public memorial service will be released in due course.

The family will lay their husband, father and grandfather to rest this week at a small, private service that will be held under current Covid-19 Alert Level 2 restrictions.  It is especially important to the family that health and safety requirements are observed, so only those specifically invited by the family to attend will be allowed access. The family requests privacy at this time, and looks forward to the opportunity to honour Joe at the public memorial service in October.
