Happy International Nurses Week!

This week marks the International Nurses week to honour all nurses and increase awareness of their immeasurable contributions to the health and well-being of NZ.

Last weekend, the Pacific Nursing Sector of the New Zealand Nurses Organisation (NZNO) celebrated International Nurses Day with a colourful event staged in Mangere.

Pacific NZ nurses celebrates International Nursing Day

Eseta Finau, Chairperson of Pacific Nursing Sector of the NZNO and Pasifika Medical Association Board Member, says each year all nurses from across the Pacific health sector are invited to attend the celebration of International Nurses Day.

“It’s extremely important to recognise the contribution of nurses in the medical practice and to recognise the unique contribution that Pacific nurses make to NZ and the Pacific healthcare service.”

“There is always a demand for Pacific nurses everywhere, to engage with all parts of our Pacific community and all sectors on the number of health and well-being challenges faced by our Pacific communities and families.”

Pasifika Medical Association Chief Executive Debbie Sorensen says this is an important week to recognise the contribution of Pacific nurses within NZ healthcare workforce.

“These dedicated professionals make a difference in the quality of life of the communities they serve. They make an enormous contribution to the health systems and their services shouldn’t go unnoticed to the families and individuals they serve.”

“We applaud the efforts of all our nurses on this special week to celebrate their successes and envision a healthier future.”

International Nurses Day is celebrated every year around the globe on 12th May.
